The Basic Engineering Department at AGPC was established in 1981 and has an annual intake capacity of 420 students. It serves as the foundation for all first-year diploma students across various engineering branches. The department focuses on building strong fundamentals in science, mathematics, engineering concepts, technical English, and workshop practice.

Supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members, the department ensures that students develop conceptual clarity and hands-on technical skills right from the beginning. The staff members also contribute actively to Boards of Studies of autonomous institutions, engage in continuing education programmes, and deliver guest lectures in other colleges—highlighting their expertise and academic involvement.
